| Suggestion: If you have the time - about a mile after Cathlamet (if you're coming from the east), State Route 4 crosses the Elochoman River. Just past the small green bridge over the Elochoman, Steamboat Slough Road goes off to the left. The road borders Steamboat Slough and the Columbia River on the left and the White-tailed Deer National Wildlife Refuge on the right. The road ends up at Skamokawa Center. It is a pleasant and scenic drive along a small section of the route Lewis and Clark paddled. | |||||
