Finding Skamokawa
From the Portland or Seattle area,
take I-5 to Exit 36: Longview/Ocean Beaches.
A bit more than 2 miles after the exit, take the exit marked 3rd Ave./Indust.
Area. At the light, turn left (Hwy. 432 West). Continue for 7.6
miles. After a sweeping right curve you will reach the traffic light
at State Route 4. Turn left and follow SR
4 for 25.5 miles to Skamokawa, which is 6 miles past Cathlamet.
Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to drive to Skamokawa from Portland, 3+ hours
from Seattle.
After entering Skamokawa you
will pass the Duck Inn on your left. Just beyond it is easy-to-miss
Steamboat Slough Road on the left. Turn left here. Skamokawa Center
is immediately on your right. After you turn in, you will pass a
small one-story building on your left (the office) and then the
General Store Building (store, café, post office, Skamokawa
Inn).
From Astoria: Take the Astoria Bridge north. Turn right (east) on State Route 401 and go 12.1 miles. Turn right at the stop sign onto State Route 4 and go 23.3 miles. We are right after the small bridge as you enter town, on the right, at highway mile 29.
